Nearly every writer or creator cringes at criticism, no matter how mild. The difference is that she had at her disposal an easy-to-use broadcast medium -- Twitter -- that gave her a way to publicly express her reaction. Hurt-feelings tweeting is like drunk tweeting: Fun at the time but much regretted the next morning. I think the difference between now and the past is not Hoffman’s internal reaction.
